It was just a matter of time before Google would come up with their mobile version of Chrome. The desktop version has been a great success, even though it was pretty isolated from any other Google service. Thanks to our dear friend, Recognized Developer capychimp we have the first leaked RUU from the upcoming flagship device HTC Endeavor.
We have little info on the details as leak just came out but we have been told by capychimp that it’s a test RUU from HTC Endeavor. This is a quad core, Nvidia Tegra based device. Apparently, it should should be running Sense 4, with 720p resolution.
RUU has not been tested yet but sure Devs and Chefs out there already have their hands on it, so expect more details soon as we have them. Hopefully we will see . . . READ ON »
It is a rare feat when someone goes out of their way to truly study their device. It is rarer still when that study warrants relevant information that’s beneficial to other users.
XDA Senior Member bedalus has performed what amounts to a case study to test battery usage with a variety of kernels and battery features such as under-volting and various levels of idling for the Samsung Nexus S. The study is rather extensive and tests the phone under a variety of conditions such as screen on/off, while music is playing, with different governors and even CPU Clock frequency. . . . READ ON »
XDA member kangxi let us know about an update of Android to 4.0.4 version for the Samsung Galaxy nexus on the CDMA version only. This new version seems to include new radios, so hopefully reception will improve. It´s also being said that it includes a fix for the Android OS bug that has been keeping the device awake for no reason.
While a ROM is still in the works, developer presents this change log for 4.0.4:

Aside from contributing to the ubiquity of social networking, one of the main functions of the modern PDA-type device is to help us remember things that we would otherwise forget. That’s why note taking apps are both incredibly important and remarkably abundant on every mobile OS.

Back in 2008, the original Peek was launched. It was not a sophisticated smartphone, or anything like that; it was a strict single-purpose device, designed for email use only. You could either pay a monthly subscription fee, or $299 upfront for “lifelong” service. Well, those who did the latter are now out of luck, as the company has announced that it would discontinue that service and all hardware, and instead concentrate on software solutions that work on top of existing platform like Android.

XDA member AidenM shows the first ever ROM for HTC Flyer loaded with the newest operating system from Android: Ice cream sandwich. The work is based on Sensation RCMix 3D Leak w/ Dexter_nlb’s fixes for hardware and since it´s a beta version some bugs are present.
So far the Developer has a green light on:
- Wifi
- Market access
- AOSP lockscreen
- Rotation
- Touch
- ADB access
- External SD
It’s not perfect, here’s what’s not working:
- Camera
- Bluetooth
- Some settings panes (keyboard selecter)
- Rotation is blurry and pixelated

After the disappointing Q4 results, which saw a sharp drop in profit and revenue for HTC, the Taiwanese mobile device company is now looking to cut back on its smartphone portfolio this year, instead focusing on fewer ‘hero’ devices. This is exactly what we argued HTC should be doing, though leaks from December already suggested that this change was coming.
In an interview with Mobile Today, HTC UK boss Phil Roberson said the following:

In 2010, the US Copyright Office added an exemption to the DMCA, which fully legalized rooting, jailbreaking, unlocking and whatever else you do with your smartphone that is not intended by their manufacturers. While that was certainly good for modders and hackers, of which there are plenty in our forums, exemptions only last for three years and therefore must be renewed before they expire. The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) is now petitioning to do exactly that.
